Title: Brilliant Sketch Effect

This tutorial will teach you how to make a scetch effect out of any picture. We used a rose, but you can use anythig you like.

We’ll start by using this photo of a red rose. It has a great deal of detail so we can make the effect look perfect.



1. This will be the first layer, or the background layer, that will be used as our base.
Desaturate this layer by pressing shift + ctrl + u. Now our image should be in grayscale much like the following image.



2. Now duplicate the layer layer > duplicate layer > ok and now invert the colors image > adjustment > invert. This is what you should have as your first two layers.



3. On the second layer, change the layer blending option from ‘normal’ to ‘color dodge’. Now you should see the second layer be completely white.
Now go to filter > blur > gaussian blur. Set it to 25.2, which should make the floating layer and the settings look like this,



4. Now it’s almost done, now it’s time to add a canvas like texture to deepen the pencil effect. Flatten the image layer > flatten image and then go to filter > texture > texturizer. Set the ‘texture’ to canvas, ‘scaling’ to 50%, ‘relief’ to 3, and leave the rest to default. Here is what the settings should look like as well as the final image.
